I'm not so sure recovery software works behind an usb enclosure.

My HD died but still spinning and no had hitting, so I assumed it was main board or data issue.
I bought a hard drive same model than mine and swapped everything except the motor with discs. It still doesn't work and looks like head moving fine and reading some data.. but it still doesn't mount.

I can see the drive, but no partitions in it. It doesn't freeze the app dealing with it as it did before, so it looks like a successful transplant.

Now it's obvious the disk data is corrupt.

What applications do you recommend for that kind of problem?

If you're on a mac, Stellar Macintosh Recovery is available here at Easy App Express. It also supports recovery from external HDDs.
