My husband does a lot of data recoveries for a restoration company (flood, fire damage, etc). He does it all at home. He is always saying he wished he had racks and a clean static free area for removing hard drive discs. I don't know much about this but I really want to surprise him by converting the office into a data recovery lab. He usually just takes the hard drive out of the damaged computer and puts it in his own to recover the data. He also has utility discs and whatever other software u can download off the Internet. Every once in a while though he runs into more difficult jobs where he wants to remove the disc but it hasn't worked yet. He says it's because the disc is so fragile he needs a clean dust free static free space to do it. I dot know anything about this stuff so I was hoping some you could give me some suggestions on how to go about this. Also, if there are any other cool tools that you think would help him become a better recovery guy, please let me know. Thank you so much!! Hope to hear from you soon!

HI, I can understand the love and affection that prompts you think about this. But "information" is something what is really very expensive and sensitive, no matter whether it is from individual or corporates.
As per data handling ethics, all these should be done in a professional way.
So better think about an office and start a lab.
The clean and esd protected room is very expensive to set up and your hus will be forced to increase the price.
Better tell him to tie up with professional companies for level 2 or level3 data recoveries..
we welcome that too..
