many, i think about 30 gigs of random files turned itself into 0 or 4kb files. i can see the files, but that's about it. i cannot execute the files. what was the possible cause? and are there any real solutions to get these files back to their original size?

Seems like it is virus infection which has changed the value of size byte to 0 or 4 KB.
You can recover your data using a data recovery software that uses file signatures to scan for files. This is also known as raw recovery of data and you won't get file names in such recovery. Only non fragmented files can be recovered
