Ok Here is a quick run down of what happened.... I had decided too reinstall vista and have a fresh clean operating system.. i have 3 hard drives
1: Windows and program files etc.
2: Media work etc.
3: Videos

Now 3 had alot of free space that i used to copy my document files from HDD 1 too a Backup Folder in HDD 3
once all files were copied over i then rebooted and formatted HDD 1 then installed VISTA Back on..

when i got into vista everything seemed too work fine TILL... I went too my backup folder (On HDD 3) to start installing drivers and programs etc. (seeing all my downloaded files were under backup) everytimes I tried too open an EXE file a command prompt window would flash open then close again without opening the program. also when i try too open zipped files it will display as damaged or corrupted. every data that was backed up are at the right sizes so there is no doubt that the data is there. apart from zips and exe's i can seem to open all my documented files eg. word files and text files also the cd imaged files are fine yet just recently there not so i dont understand how tat happened. yet all my mp3's were affected also, once i try too play an mp3 WMP says its got the worng codec blah blah blah yet i know it hasnt because it has never been modified...... I have been through this procedure so many times with out any hassles so why is this time any different? where have i gone wrong? There must be a way to get my files back too normal seeing that there is definitely data there its just not being processed properly or something.... so please anyone I ask for your help too solve this issue as from my music too my downloads was organized perfectly which i had spent weeks sorting and uploading too my pc... any thoughts or opinions will be greatly appreciated

BTW:- I did not use a back software or anything i only copied and pasted the files
