|
|
Hi there,
I have joined this forum with the hope that I can find a genuine someone here in the UK to recover over 10 years of photos etc that have been stored on my backup external Hard Disk.
I bought a HP Media Drive thinking it would be a top quality product and would stand up to life a lot better than those horrible cheap drives you see... how wrong I was.
A year or so it knocked it... and I mean knocked, it wasnt dropped, bashed across a table top or anything, just knocked. Ever since the power light will come on but the drive will not access anything and there is no sound of life coming from within.
Now here's my little connundrum... back in my single days I used to like to look at ---- on the net and collected a few pics and videos from both friends at work and off the net, all of these were stored on the drive. However when I met and settled down with my girlfriend I wanted them off the home PC and so moved them onto this hard drive and deleted them off the PC.
Now before you jump off the handle we are talking very soft ---- here and certainly nothing illegal, vulgar or sickening, think of playboy/penthouse type stuff perfectly clean and above board.
So my question is this, if I take it into a recovery company do they go through the content with a fine toothed comb or is it likely that it will be overlooked, I have no idea how these companies actually recover data and would really like to know and ins and outs before I take it in somewhere. It is just a small portion of the drive and the rest is mainly family photos and videos, website building stuff and hobby pictures (Im a fantasy figure painter) and other boring stuff.
Really hope someone can shed some light for me, yes I am female and I am indeed blonde however Im pretty good when it comes to Computers... Honest
Hanna

If you take it to a good company, they will recover your data, they are not concerened with the contents, they stick to thier job.
If you take it to somebody who has only your drive to recover, then there are chances that they migh go through content otherwise good data recovery companies have checks to ensure data privacy.
The most common question by clients is that we have some stuff downloaded from torrents, will you report me? thing like that, if you are going to a professionals who do data recovery, they are not bothered by what you have on hard drive.
If you have any furhter question, feel free to ask.

that's very interesting thank you so much.
As far as the fault goes, do you (or anyone else) have any experience of anything similar... as I say - It powers up fine but when you connect up the usb cable nothing happens, there is no light or noise coming from the disk itself, I get the feeling it cant be too badly damaged but I guess Im just hoping!
I know it oculd be million and one things but just wondered if anyone had anything similar go wrong with theirs?
thanks again

There are range of problems which any hard drive can have, it can be electronic i.e something to do with PCB or it can be mechinical etc.
So for that you need to get professional help.
Cheers. |
