What can I do to protect my data and minimize my chances of losing data?

You should always take backup of your important files.

Backing your data is ideal way to recover your data. Crash hard drive might be unable to recover even a single bit of data so don’t put yourself at risk by not properly backing up your data. Surprised

To avoid the chances of losing data, you must backup your data periodically and make sure following as well;

Avoid heat and vibration
Use Anti-virus software
Use uninterrupted power supply (UPS)
Be cautious when using recovery utilities

If you do the above precautionary measures, your chances of losing data would be reduced. Smile
