It happened like this,
I have a thinkpad X32. One of famous software of thinkpad is Rescue and recovery. I would like to make a rescue media to a USB disk. Before I made it, there are two USB disks on my laptop. One is 1T seagate external hard disk and one is a 16G USB disk. I thought there will be an option that I can choose which one will be used. But when I click Next, it starts to make a rescue media without any option.
I don't know which USB disk is being used and there is no button to stop it. I tried to safely remove the 1T USB seagate harddisk but I was told the disk is used. Then I plug out the seagate disk immediately (about 10s after I click the Next for making the rescue media). But it is too late.
When I plug in the Seagate harddisk again, it showed 'the disk is not formatted, please format it now'. I don't know what Rescue and Recovery did on this seagate harddisk and if some files have been written in it. I have tried Disk Genius. It took about 15 hours and I can get some files with strange name.
It seems that I can use easy recovery to get some files with strange name. But I want to know if there is any way to get the files with original name and under original folder, that I can recover them easily.
This 1T seagate harddisk(931G) has only about 400G for free space. There are lots of things, but the most important things are my daughter's photoes and videos from the day of her birth.
Thanks so much if anyone can help me or give me any idea.

Whatever you do, don't use the drive to save any information.
Download Geeksnerds Windows Data Recovery.
Run the software and start scan for th partition.
Once you have completed the parition scan, run the advance scan on the paritions found by the software. Hopefully you will get all your data back.
