So it all started when i was using Seagate BlackArmor Backup s/w for my 1TB BlkA external HDD that had 3 drives on it. I wanted to create a "Secure Zone" on one of the partitions and keep my private data there to protect it from public access. But the S/W scr***d with my drives and I lost all the partitions. Windows could see 2 of them had did not have the "Secure Zone" but they were RAW opposed to NTFS before; therefore I could not access my data there. I fixed that with a quick chkdsk drive: /f/x/r and all my data was back..
I then decided to get rid of the "Zone" and restore my disk to how it was before.. but that really messed up everything.. the partition with "Secure Zone" was a 12GB one at start of HDD but after Seagte S/W removed the Zone it moved half of the partition to the end of the disk so i had.. 6GB unallocated.. my drive.. my drive.. 6GB unallocated.. and the 2 drives were now RAW again.. so again with the chkdsk and recovered..
Then I decided to extend the 2 drives I had data on and use up all the space on the disk instead of creating another partition like before.. thats when disaster struck. The power cord of the disk moved during the resize operation and I lost ALL the data on one of the partitions.. almost 250GB!! I tried various S/W trying to get partition back but no use.. they recovered the partition but not the data as the MFT was damaged too badly..
So I "quick" formated it and used a data recovery s/w (File Scavenger) to look for files on the drive.. and it found them!! All of them! and in good health!
Now the question.. I do not have 250GB free space on my computer HDD as its a 120GB HDD. The only place I have that much space is on another drive on my BlkA HDD; the same disk I have lost data on.
So, can I recover the data on another drive (partition) on the same disk that has the partition that I lost? What do you suggest
