Hi,
1st post good to have the resource. I just lost my 320GB 256 encrypted external drive. I loaded up the Buffalo CD again but its behaving like the drive is new, asking for new password and if I require encryption ect?

I have a programe which recovers data on damaged drives but the recovery programe needs to see the drive in My Computer , but my drive is not showing there? The drive is showing under Disk Drives in Device Manager ( XPHOME )?

My only thoughts on this was could I FORMAT the drive wiping clean the drive and then hope it would showup in My Computer so I could then run the data recovery programe on the external? I suspect its a risk too far, but Id like some Guru views on it? Is it possible that the recovery programe might have the ability to dig deeper than a once over format to recover the original data?

* DATA RECOVERY is the rescue hoped for.
