First, I think that you should take the drive out of USB and connect it directly with the computer.
This might help by decreasing the time required for data travel.

Secondly you should search Google and download some other utilities for data recovery. There are many software for data recovery but few are effective and 2-3 are helpful in shortening the time required for data recovery. Al-most all programs of data recovery are available for free download and to run scan on drive. Use that software which is quick and takes less time in scan as it wouldn't further damage your drive.

Lastly, what is recommended is that you should get a cloning software which clone drive sector by sector. Make a clone of your usb drive on healthy drive and then try recovering data. If you don't clone your 1 TB drive, there are chances that it might stop responding at any time. so you better make a clone copy of the drive in case you face the worst. Most of the data recovery professional first clone the drive and then recover data. So get a software for cloning which clone sector by sector and which can skip bad sectors.

Hope that you will get your data back.

Hi,

When the system only sees the drive by a "generic title" its typically a firmware issue. Most of the time; the USB enclosures over-heat drives and cause all sorts of system area type issues.

If you like; you can give us a call or email. We offer free diagnostics on hard drives and I can let you know if we can help resolve the issue for you.

Hi,Krenzathal
In YOUR CASE, you can connect your disk to another healthy computer to check whether the same problem will come up. If YES, it means your disk has physical errors.Or ELSE,there is a problem about your partition table. You can try to recover your data with Data Recovery Wizard.Any way,if you wanna make a clone about your disk, you can try Disk Copy,it's totally free.
