I backed up a friends pictures and music .jpg and .mp3 files to my 32gb patriot flash drive. I accidently left the device plugged in while installing a clean copy of windows and deleted the wrong partition (being the flash drive).
now when I stick the flash drive into my vista x64 ultimate machine it tells me I have to format in order to use the disc.
on the drive was 6years (15gb) of pictures and (10gb) of mp3's. I don't so much care about the music but the pictures are a huge loss.
should I use specific software? should I format before I start trying to recover?
I have backed up so many times and setup so many systems I cannot believe I made such a stupid mistake.
Thank you for any help

Hi,
As you have deleted the partition with data, the data is still present on the USB. so you can use any recovery software to scan for data.
But please don't use the flash drive till you recover your data as there is chance of overwriting the data while using the flash.
I will recommend Geeksnerds Data Recovery Software, just download and install the demo version of the software, scan your USB, if it shows you your data, verify the size and format, and you have your data back.
Regards

Hello,
You have your pictures and mp3's safe in your eprovided.com/usb-flash-drive-data-recovery and there is nothing to worry about. But, yes using your Flash Drive before retrieving your files means you are overwriting which will definitely create a trouble for Data Recovery. Consult experts who are pioneer in retrieving data from broken USB Drives no matter if they are physically or logically damaged.
I have been through this problem before and i was charged $120 but though the case looks similar to mine but the reason and damage can be different please consult them and you can have all your lost pictures and mp3’s back. |

| Never format the disk that you wanna recover your data. You can download a software and try to recover them. It seems that your problem is not big. |
